Full Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Johannesburg to Tydon Safari Camp – Greater Kruger Park

This adventure-filled 5-day Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Safari start with collection from the Johannesburg International Airport, or your accommodation in the area (or in Nelspruit).

We leave the vibrant city of Johannesburg, traveling northeast to the renowned Greater Kruger in an air-conditioned and safe vehicle.

Our journey takes us to Tydon Safari Camp, located just outside the famous Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, at the Shaw’s Gate entrance.

Freshen up after check-in, before we head into the Sabi Sand Game Reserve on our thrilling sunset game drive. The Sabi Sand Private Reserve is famous for offering outstanding leopard encounters and sightings of other wild animals at close range.

We use open 4×4 safari vehicles on our game viewing drives in both Kruger Park and Sabi Sand Parks.

Our sunset to evening game viewing drive is a great opportunity to spot some of the nocturnal wildlife found in the area. We arrive back at Tydon Camp after dark to be welcomed by a campfire in the outdoor boma area.

Enjoy some drinks as you sit back around the campfire before dinner. The evening meal is served in the boma beneath starry skies, or in the thatched dining area.

After dinner, you can laze beside the glowing campfire and get an early night, before our first full day exploring the African bush.

Day 2: Kruger Park Game Drives

We get up bright and early this morning to be met by the untamed bush in the golden morning light.

Morning coffee/tea is enjoyed in the dining area before we venture into Kruger National Park, the leading safari destination in South Africa. Our 4×4 game drives follow the best routes for wildlife sightings, improving your chances of sighting the Big Five animals of Africa and the abundant wildlife of Kruger.

We head back to Tydon Safari Camp after our morning drive to satisfy our appetites with a tasty brunch.

Then there is time free, for you to put your feet up or enjoy some of the facilities and optional activities at Tydon Camp. You can swim in the pool, explore the campgrounds or relax on the viewing deck amongst indigenous trees during the heat of the day.

Between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm a light lunch is served in the dining area at camp and at around 2:30 pm we set off on a rewarding game drive in Kruger National Park.

Game viewing in open 4×4 vehicles allows you to experience the bush first-hand and get up close to the incredible wildlife of Africa.

Our experienced and knowledgeable guides are happy to answer questions on the game drives, ensuring that you gain as much insight into Kruger and Sabi Sand as possible.

Returning to the safari camp pre-dinner drinks will be served around the campfire, followed by a well-prepared dinner. Kick back and relax under the canopy of stars, recounting the adventures of your day in the African bush, or head to your comfortable tented room for a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Sabi Sand Game Walk & Safari Drive

A morning wake up call gets the day started nice and early on day three. The early morning hours are ideal for game viewing, as this is when many animals are most active.

After a refreshing tea or coffee at camp, we set off on a morning game-viewing walk-in Sabi Sand Reserve. Our guides provide you with insightful information about the incredible plants and animals of the area, while you explore Sabi Sand on foot. Walking through this Big Five game park is a truly unique safari adventure!

The exhilarating guided walk takes you deep into the bush, where chance wildlife encounters include coming face-to-face with a lion pride, a herd of elephants and other wildlife – an experience that is sure to get your adrenaline levels up.

The game walk in Sabi Sand is ideal for becoming aware of the finer details of the African bushveld and its variety of creatures, big and small. We spend time tracking wild animals and getting to know the wilderness more intimately than is possible on game viewing drives.

After our exciting game walk, we return to Tydon Camp for a scrumptious mid-morning breakfast.

Spend some time relaxing and resting at camp during the heat of the day. Lounge by the pool, take a leisurely stroll around the leafy camp, or try some of the optional activities available.

A fresh lunch is served in the main dining area of the safari camp between 12:30 pm and 2:00 pm. After lunch, there is some more free time before we embark on our 4:00 pm Sabi Sand game drive.

Sabi Sand Game Reserve is known for its remarkable sightings of the Big Five – lion, elephant, buffalo and rhino, in addition to leopard. We usually get up close to the wildlife on our game drives, giving you excellent chances to take great photographs in the African bush.

Returning to camp after sunset, we find chilled beverages waiting in the boma, where the campfire is already going. Share a juicy meal in the Boma under the stars, or in the dining area. Then sit back and take in the night sounds of the untamed bush.
